Philip Wakefield
Philip Wakefield attended Western Washington University (1983), was awarded a scholarship to study in France his junior year and graduated (1987) with Departmental Honors in Political Science and University Honors, Cum Laude. He was awarded a scholarship to pursue his Juris Doctorate at the University of Puget Sound School of Law in Tacoma, Washington (1989) and graduated (1991)
Passing the Washington Bar Exam (1992), Mr. Wakefield was admitted to practice in both the US District Court for Western Washington and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Philip Wakefield, is a member of good standing with the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA), and the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL).
With 30 years of experience, Philip Wakefield is a results-driven Criminal Defense and Personal Injury trial attorney who passionately advocates for his clients. Skilled in client relations, negotiations, and litigation Mr. Wakefield is recognized for consistently achieving results for his clients and resolving cases. An incredible negotiator outside the courtroom and a fierce advocate in the courtroom, Phil relentlessly fights for his clients utilizing his unique background, experience, and skills to create effective strategies which achieve excellent outcomes.
Mr. Wakefield is a pioneer in the development of direct examination testimony by defense expert witnesses, and was asked by the National DUI Defense College to contribute his trial techniques so they can be understood and used at a national level to this day.
Mr. Wakefield’s philosophy as a trial attorney is to challenge every aspect of the prosecution’s case. ‘One need not be disagreeable to disagree’. He practices law to defend the civil rights and liberties of the people and is dedicated to the pursuit of justice.

Scott Lawrence
Scott Weymouth Lawrence is an experienced trial attorney who is associated with Snohomish Law Group as an attorney “of counsel” as a freelance trial attorney. Practicing criminal defense exclusively for 17 years, Mr. Lawrence has successfully represented clients at trial in municipal courts, district courts and superior courts throughout Washington State.
About 50% of his cases have been DUI-related charges. The nature of the scientific evidence, professional witnesses and resources afforded the prosecution in these matters make DUI cases some of the most challenging to defend. Mr. Lawrence’s extensive trial experience extends to an array of misdemeanors and felonies as well. Having tried assaults, robberies, drug charges, theft, and so much more, Mr. Lawrence is an effective and well-rounded criminal defense trial attorney.
What separates Scott Weymouth Lawrence from other trial attorneys is his experience beyond criminal law. He graduated from the University of Oregon, Knight School of Law in 2005 with a certificate in criminal defense practice. Mr. Lawrence has Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Washington, as well as being certified as a Laboratory Chemist by the American Chemistry Society. He was also a lead case investigator for 12 years as a licensed private investigator with the State of Washington.
Scott is a member in good standing of the National College of DUI Defense, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He holds a certification of the International Order of Police and the National Highway Traffic Safety Association to be able to administer the same roadside field sobriety tests given by police officers.
Mr. Lawrence’s unique blend of knowledge and experience, possessing a background in criminal law, science, and investigation, are especially effective in complex criminal cases such as DUIs, sex crimes and DNA-related cases. Working on cases that range from violent crime to juvenile offenses to DUI, Scott employs these skills to work hard for you.
